Product Description:
Hot Lime, also known as calcium oxide (CaO), supplied by Changshu Hongyu Calcium Co., Ltd., is a versatile additive for drilling fluids. When mixed with water, it forms calcium hydroxide (lime, Ca(OH)2), which aids in controlling clay hydration and dispersion in drilling fluids. This helps maintain clay in a state of moderate flocculation. Additionally, Hot Lime serves as a source of calcium and alkalinity in oil-based muds, making it ideal for various drilling conditions.
In wet or rainy environments, calcium hydroxide is recommended over hot lime to prevent undesired reactions. Hot Lime's heat evolution upon contact with water can assist in building emulsions, making it beneficial in conventional oil mud systems. It reacts with emulsifiers to form calcium soaps, providing alkalinity when drilling in the presence of acid gases like carbon dioxide and hydrogen sulfide.
