In environments subject to wetness or rainfall, calcium hydroxide is preferred over Hot Lime to avert unwanted chemical reactions. The thermal energy released by Hot Lime upon water contact is instrumental in constructing stable emulsions, proving advantageous in traditional oil mud systems.
